Robert Lee Lockhart, known affectionately as Smoo and Semaj to his loved ones, was a man whose laughter and zest for life left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Born on December 29, 1968, in the vibrant heart of Philadelphia, he was a true son of the city, embodying its spirit of brotherly love throughout his 55 years. On August 15, 2024, Robert passed away peacefully in the city that he adored, surrounded by his family and friends.

Raised in Philadelphia, Robert was the cherished son of Regina Williams and the late Lee and Edith Lockhart.

Robert’s life was one filled with laughter, adventure, and passion. He was the embodiment of what it meant to be a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, wearing his heart on his sleeve for every game, celebrating the triumphs, and standing steadfast through the defeats. Beyond the stadiums, Robert’s love for his city was evident in every aspect of his life. He navigated the world with a bold and fearless spirit, his forward-thinking matched only by his handsome and fashionable presence.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Robert will remember him as a man who was not only witty and funny but also as someone who was a beacon of light in their lives. His quick wit and humorous outlook on life often brought joy and laughter to any gathering. His adventurous soul led him to embrace life’s journeys with open arms, always ready for the next exciting chapter.

Indeed, words like funny, adventurous, and passionate only begin to scratch the surface of who Robert Lee Lockhart was. His life was a vivid tapestry woven with love, laughter, loyalty, and an enduring passion for the experiences and people that brought him joy.

Robert is survived by his children, Tashina Heath, Tierra Bowen, Robert Lockhart, and Robin Samuel. His legacy continues to flourish through his adored grandchildren, Mikal Hill, Jeremiah and Elizabeth Heath, Jaydon and Jace Johnson, Arielle Bowen, Ryder and Dorian Lockhart, and Zaida-Raine Chambers.

Robert’s absence will be profoundly felt by his siblings Byon and Teddra Hairston, nieces, Tiara and Taylor Gray, stepfather, Timothy Nelson and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who were all a testament to his ability to touch lives. His spirit of camaraderie and his unwavering loyalty made him a cherished companion, confidant, and mentor to many.

As we bid farewell to Robert, we do so with the knowledge that his legacy will continue to live on in the stories told, the memories shared, and the laughter that echoes in the hearts of those who loved him.  Robert’s journey on earth may have concluded, but the impact of his life’s journey will be felt for generations to come. As we remember him, let us carry forward the light he brought into this world, honoring his memory by living our lives with the same courage and passion that he did.
